MARCUS MAJOR: A FACE for 924c
Hello All:
My name is Marcus Major #63505-097, I reside in Victorville, CA, USP (United States Penitentiary) where I am serving a sentence of 8,919 months or 743 years and 3 months. To break my sentence down I was convicted on charges of (30) armed robberies and (2) counts of conspiracy to commit robbery which totaled 18 years and 3 months; these charges resulted in (24) counts of stacking under 924c and (6) charges of discharging a gun that added an additional 725 years to my sentence.
Today, I still claim my innocence. Yet I’m here doing time. Feeling sorry for me isn’t going to help bring me home; however your help and support can. Thank you for working with this organization, MERCY ME 924c, to help bring me home and a lot of others who fall under this unfair statue. I also thank you for giving me the chance to listen to my disarray of my circumstance. I have been locked up going into 9 years now and I’ve been praying for help and relief; likewise my family as well. My story is long, pain is very real and my struggle is very very hard.
In December of 2005 a string of armed robberies took place which lasted until July 24, 2006. I was questioned on May 10, 2006 and held for approximately 8-9 hours during which against my will I was forced to try on clothing to see if I was one of an unknown amount of robbers. I did 13 lineups like this forced into clothing that would later be used to convict me. Not having enough evidence they let me go along with my cousin who has also been convicted. Tracking devices were placed on my car and we both had been under surveillance for 8 months while the robberies were being committed; however no arrest was made. I was followed everywhere, harassed, and threatened to be killed by officers.
I was finally arrested on July 24, 2006. Prior to this I was followed by an unmarked car and I fled because the car had its high beams on my car and I couldn’t see who it was. Later that morning I was shot, tased and beaten by officers when they found me in a garage I was hiding in. Two days later I was free after hours of interrogation. Six months later I was arrested for a shooting and later found not guilty; the catch to this was they wanted my co-defendant NOT me so they offered me deal after deal and when I still refused to take their deal they used my mother and threaten to lock her up. I still would not participate in their plans; so they threatened me with conspiracy and prison time. I stood my ground and would not frame someone they wanted off the streets so they used someone who was like family who couldn’t handle the pressure to do what they asked me to do and now I sit with a release date of March 15, 2657. I was even deemed a terrorist and through all of this I still claim my innocence. I had no criminal history of this nature and no violence!
I also need to tell you that they made us (my cousin and I) gang members and we were NEVER in a gang. The jury was tainted from the start; they were overheard expressing how they were going to find us guilty before even being sworn in. Every lawyer I’ve had was working with the District Attorney, the arresting officer was the brother-in-law to the District Attorney, and the Judge was bias and he did everything in his power to convict us and keep us in jail.
