John Anthony Taylor, iii
Hello All:
My name is John Anthony Taylor, III #26788-034, I reside in Pollock, LA, USP (United States Penitentiary) and I have been sentenced to 852 months or 71 years in federal prison for armed bank robbery. Please know that no life was taken nor was anyone hurt. This was my first offense and I went to trial and that was the end result. My sentence looks like this: bank robbery with aiding and abetting = 168 months or 14 years, and under 924c use, carry, brandish a firearm during a crime = 684 months or 57 years.
I believe in fair justice and sentencing; however on a first time offender charge I do not believe it was fair to receive a LIFE sentence for a costly, misguided, unwise mistake. Five to ten years would have been fair; but 71 years…that is not justice, that is cruel and very unusual punishment by the misinterpreted sentencing guidelines that have been going on for over 20 years. Enough is Enough!
I came into the federal system at the age of 28 and now I am 44 years old; that would be 16 years ago. I’ve lost my grandparents, parents, brother, and a younger sister as well as a host of other relatives while on this sentence. I have never been married, I have no children and I refuse to settle for this injustice. I’m a fighter and I will not give up doing my very best to aid and assist myself and others on getting fair sentencing implemented the way it was intended to be.
This is not a sob story, this is my life. I graduated from Sam Houston High School and attended Sam Houston State University, Texas A&M in Commerce outside of Dallas, Texas. I have completed a plethora of distant learning studies and multiple certificates while being incarcerated. My time spent behind the wall has always been multi-productive in obtaining my personal faith in my biblical belief in Jesus Christ, and achieving higher learning as well as teaching, mentoring and intense physical training.
I am a work in progress and only by God’s grace and mercy I’m still standing maintaining a level of intensity that pleases God! I rededicated my life to the Lord in 2002 and haven’t looked back! This journey that I’m on now is to seek God’s perfect plan, purpose, and will for my life. It’s really compared to Joseph in the Bible; when he was sold into slavery.
What the enemy meant for evil, God meant for good. God’s grace or unmerited favor; but also the supernatural ability to carry out the things of God has definitely been proven by the fruit that it bears in my walk with the Lord in this place. I am a walking miracle set to be divinely released here real soon and I look forward to meeting all those who supported, prayed, wrote, visited, and comforted me on this tedious journey since I began it in 1999. Glory to God in the highest!
In closing, may the good Lord continue to richly bless you all who fully supported our Mercy Me 924c movement, AskMeDapa, and our exclusive YouTube video. Thank you and God bless. See you all soon at the official “Mercy Me 924c Reunion” cookout. IT WILL BE EPIC! History is in the making. Is there anything to hard for God? …..with man it’s impossible; but with God all things are possible!
In Jesus Christ Holy name. Amen and Amen
