Lindsey William Orr, Sr.
Hello my name is Lindsey Orr #58789-019 and I currently reside in Berlin, NH, FCI (Medium Federal Correctional Facility). I am 48 years old and I have been incarcerated for almost 9 years. I was sentenced to 40 years in prison. For my crime of two counts of bank robberies, I received an 8 year sentence and 32 years came from the 924(c) firearm “STACKING.” Please know that the firearms that were utilized were never FIRED and NO ONE was ever hurt.
I came to prison for the first time ever at the age of 40 and I have a release date of 2039. When I came to prison my youngest daughter was one month old, she is currently going on 9, and she still does not know that I am in prison. She has not asked me or her mother where I am when I talk to her on the telephone, but I know that day will come and I dread the fact that I will be forced to tell her the truth.
The United States Supreme Court Justice Stevens spoke out about his disapproval of the “stacking” of firearm charges that are being applied to a person in the case of US vs Thomas Lee Deal. Stevens stated the following: “However punishing first time offenders with twenty-five (25) year sentences does not DETER CRIME AS MUCH AS IT RUIN LIVES.”
Since my incarceration I have obtained my GED, I have also attended an completed advanced Micro-Computer applications from Lomar State College-Port Arthur, Texas conducted by the Division of Technical Programs, and my most recent certification was obtained via Vocational Training in Culinary Arts. I have acquired numerous other certifications for utilization when I am back in society that will aid me in being a productive law abiding citizen. I would like to add that since I have been incarcerated in prison I have never received any disciplinary write-ups or reports.
