Brenson Stovall
My name is Brenson Stovall #34009-077 and I currently reside in Pollock, LA, UPS (United States Penitentiary). I was born in New Orleans, LA on October 18, 1972. I am serving a 73 year sentence for robbery and interfering with commerce. I was given 6 years for the robbery and 67 years for 924(c) stacking. I have a son 23 and a daughter 19, who I would give my life for. When I was incarcerated on July of 1999, my son was eight going on nine and my daughter was three going on twenty-one (laugh out loud). It’s nothing like leaving something so precious behind without a father figure to bring the balance in their life, which was much needed, and that hurts. Throughout all these years, I have NEVER been able to push pass the pain; I continue to live and suffer from this pain daily.
Since my incarceration, my son graduated and has a job. My daughter is attending college playing basketball, while studying to become a prosthesis engineer. I smile and tilt my hat to my kids and also to their mother for doing a great job raising my children. I was married to my daughter’s mother and with a 73 year sentence we decided to divorce.
I went on an educational and self discovery mission. I have managed within this structure of doing time to get my G.E.D., graduate from Black Stone Career Institute as a paralegal, and I have obtained 30 or more educational certificates. In addition; I have discovered a sense of calmness within me that’s indescribable to explain. I just know that the sun is shining bright from my point of view and I will continue to fight in every way possible through the judiciary system to revisit my sentence that is excessively severe and unjust.
I would like to send a shout out to DeVon and Dawn, true matriarchs in their own rights, and Mercy Me 924c supporters around the globe; you are greatly appreciated. And last but “not” least a woman that knows me like no other and has been in my corner since I was an undeveloped fetus my mother, Carol A. Stovall, who departed this earth in 2004 from cancer. Your oldest son loves you and misses you very much!!!
Peace, Love and Respect….
